Dhoni’s 3 plan for World cup cricket 2011

Now a day’s Indian cricket team passing very busy time. Every single players, Coach and team stuffs are very serious for World Cup. Like Many fans Indian cricket team believe they have potential to win world cup after 28 years.
India has to play this world cup with a huge load of pressure as Indian fans have lots of expectation on their team.
Dhoni said, they are used to with pressure and Indian teams always do well in under pressure.
For world cup Indian captain Dhoni made three plans:
Plan A- India will play with 2 spinners and two fast bowlers .Harbhajan and Zaheer is always first choice. Nehra is also quite sure because Street smart Pravin Kumar missed this tournament for elbow injury. And as a second spinner piyush chawla is dhoni’s first choice, because Dhoni wants variation.
Plan B- Dhoni gives most priority to win the toss. India’s most of matches will go under light. And it’s always tough to chase score under light. India wants to bat first and do a big score and give opponents a huge pressure.

Plan C-Dhoni wants Dry pitch /grass less pitch. Because this type of pitch is always good for slow bowlers and also batsmen. If India bats later even then they have good chance to win match for their famous batting line up.

Afridi's dream to play final with India

Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on Thursday said "There is an opportunity that Pakistan and India play the final of the World Cup and if that happens it would be perfect for the World Cup, one-day format and for the game of cricket, and a boost to international cricket, drawing billions of viewers.
Afridi said billions of cricket fans are missing a "big thing".

Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are in separate groups of the 14-team World Cup, jointly hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and starts on February 19.
"Both India and Pakistan have to play above their potential to reach the final but it would be ideal for the billions of people approximately the world," said Afridi, who will be playing his fourth World Cup.
The top four teams from each of the two groups meet in the quarterfinal and Afridi hopes both India and Pakistan avoid each other until the April 2 final.

Pakistan has not beaten India in the four matches they have played at World Cups.

World Cup will be a clash in the middle of India, Pak and SL: Raina

Indian Talented middle-order left handed batsman Suresh Raina reckons that with the supremacy of four-time world champions Australia almost ended, it would be a battle along with the three sub-continental teams in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the upcoming cricket World Cup. England can also be the real challengers, he added.”

"This is a brand new World Cup and in the last four years other teams have also improved a lot as compared to the Aussies. It's important to get a good start in the tournament,"

Pakistani Fast Bowler Tanvir dropped from WC squad

Pakistani Speed star Sohail Tanvir   dropped from Pakistans World Cup squad after being declared unfit by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday.

Pakistan is replacing Tanvir with left-arm paceman Junaid Khan, 21, who started with the Under-19s alongside talented teenage speedy Mohammad Aamer who has been forbidden by ICC for five years due to attachment in spot-fixing.

Praveen Kumar ,Hussey, Hauritz to Miss ICC World Cup Cricket 2011

Australia and India suffered setbacks ahead of the World Cup 2011 as both teams lost important players to injuries.
India will have to manage without the services of Praveen Kumar who has been ruled out due to an elbow injury
and will be replaced by Sreesanth
The decision comes a day after Praveen underwent a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore to measure whether he had recovered from the injury sustained before the start of the one-day series in South Africa last month.
Praveen has been a regular with the Indian one-day side for the past couple of years and was set to be a certain starter in the World Cup, but his injury healed too slowly to allow him to participate in the global tournament.
Sreesanth  has played only 51 one-dayers in more than five years since his debut in 2005, and has a bloated career economy rate of 6.01. But he proved effective in the two ODIs he's played over the past 12 months, bagging seven wickets for 77 runs.

Australia’s face was worse than India’s. The Aussie team suffered a double blow as both Michael Hussey and Nathan Hauritz failed to get the requisite fitness clearance.
Michael Hussey and Nathan Hauritz, would miss the mega event. Both players were part of the 15-member squad for the World Cup, but Cricket Australia (CA) has applied to exclude their names from the list.
The injuries will provide an opportunity for Callum Ferguson and Jason Krejza, who will be the replacements for the mega event. However, the pair wasn’t the selectors first choice, as Shaun Marsh and Xavier Doherty were set to replace the injured players.

ICC vs IPL

                                                                              VS
Even before the World Cup Cricket 2011 Indian Premier League (IPL) season 4 will be played on the field as tournaments against each other in the fight for advertising. Two cricket with mega advertising estimated cost Rs 1500 -1700 Rs. From this, the experts predicted that IPL will collect a large chunk. The ratings game average for the previous edition of IPL, the audience measurement of TV (TAM) was two times higher than the World Cup. And less than two weeks to go in the World Cup, IPL, which begins on April 8 had already managed to rope in the 11 sponsors of the World Cup eight. Apparently, the story of strong viewer ship IPL - especially among young people, who seem to prefer short IPL twenty more about the format of a Dyer - found traction with advertisers.

"Of the total housing IPL and advertising costs of the World Cup, IPL should definitely sack of 60-65%," says Rohit Gupta, President, Multi Screen Media (MSM), which owns a Sony TV package India, including Max, the official television station in the IPL. "Ad Rates for Rs 5.5 lakh central IPL with ten seconds, which is 20-25% higher than in previous editions. The spot is almost sold to date, despite the World Cup in the first place. IPL's popularity is obvious that his chances game average, almost 5, compared with about 2.5 for the World Cup, "added Gupta. ESPN, which sends the ICC World Cup 2011, says the company does not disclose the financial, political. However, one industry source, who did not wish to be named, said the Rs 1,700 crore TE total cost advertising will be Kitty's World Cup is close to Rs 750 crore. India’s Fortune in bowlers' hands

The Indian team will take the hopes of millions of fans to the 2011 World Cup, who is waiting in expectation for another victory in this show piece.
The World Cup has eluded them since 1983 and on paper the Indian side wears an alarming look today.
Independently, every Indian player in the squad is a superstar; but to win a major tournament the team needs a combined effort.
They have a batting line-up which can make any country pompous. Virender Sehwag, a shock for any bowler on his day, and the in-form Gautam Gambhir, one among the finest openers in the game, are competent of giving India the electrifying start.
They are followed by five batsmen who can beat any bowling stabbing in the world….Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
These seven from the top are specialists in one-day cricket, having proved their caliber through some memorable knocks that have left many opponents amazed.
All that would be required of them is a partnership either at the top or in the middle that can accelerate the run rate to out-of-the-way magnitude.
If these seven are not enough to enlarge the total, there is even Harbhajan Singh, who has been quite effective as a hard-hitter these days. Even the pacers down to the last man are no rabbits with the bat. But the big question is: Can a team win based only on its batting potency?
Big weaknesses
India's bowling is their big weakness. Their pace attack is not accurate unlike others and have many a times struggled to contain batsmen, both at the start and even in the closing stages.
It is worth recalling here that India's 1983 World Cup winning team power was their exact medium pacers. Though it may be argued sub-continent wickets mainly assists spinners and that India will be able to contain the batsmen through their spin attack, but if two opposing batsmen at the top or a hard-hitting lower order batsman turns aggressive, then the Indian pacers will have to rise to the challenge to stem the run flow.
A huge total, if not backed by effective bowling, can upset any plan.
There are many who believe that India will be tough to beat at home, but one should not forget that India's World Cup record in the sub-continent has not been impressive.
Earlier on both occasions when the World Cup was held in the sub-continent, they failed to go past the semi-finals. India can make it to the quarter-finals provided they overcome the challenges in the knock-out stage on their home grounds.
So a winning start in the World Cup, in the first match of the tournament on February 19 against Bangladesh, on their home soil becomes very important.

Ranatunga expresses concern over Sri Lanka’s middle-order ahead of World Cup

Arjuna Ranatunga told Reuters in an interview on February 03 that he was concerned with Sri Lanka’s middle-order. “Kumar and Mahela should not be batting at number three and four. One of them has to come down to number five to bolster the middle order,” Ranatunga said suggesting Chamara Kapugedera’s promotion up the order ahead of the two senior batsmen.

Finally Afridi Decleard As a pakistani captain For ICC World cup 2011

following a lot rumor and extensive apprehensions, the Pakistan Cricket Board appears to have confirmed that Shahid Afridi will indeed, and not Misbah ul Haq, will captain Pakistan going into the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
The Pakistan cricket manager, Intikhab Alam, notified the media that Afridi has been retained as Pakistan’s ODI captain, a matter that was not considered a conviction at the start of the Pakistan New Zealand ODI series.
With the PCB not having named the captain whereas naming Pakistan’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 squad, rumours were common that indeed Afridi’s position was in danger by the upswing of results under Misbah ul Haq as the Pakistan Test captain.
The overdue decision then of naming the captain led to reprimand all round about create an impression of shakiness with the team with less than a month for the World Cup. However, the decision may have ultimately been prompted by common sense that suggested that it was best not to change guard at the eleventh hour of such an important tournament as also, the fact that Pakistan were able to overwhelm the hosts to win the Pakistan New Zealand series.
Misbah was considered a severe competitor in the manner in which he led Pakistan against South Africa and now against New Zealand. However, with the tournament nearly upon the players, it did not make sense to off set preparations that have been in place for a while now.
Shahid Afridi has now been confirmed, which means Pakistan cricket has one less motive to.

India biggest threat in WC: Pak players

Karachi, Jan 30 (PTI): Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal and left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir feel that India will be the biggest threat for all teams including Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup.
"I think India, Australia and South Africa can pose a big threat as they have very strong squads for the tournament," Ajmal told Pakistan's former captain and now well-known commentator Ramiz Raja on a television show.
Ajmal said hopefully if Pakistan managed to get through to the knockout stages it would have to contend with India in the crunch stage of the event.
"Matches against India are always played with extra hype and spirit and if such a match up takes place in the World Cup at any stage it would be great for the sport," the offie stated.
He also feels that he has been in the form of his life and would make an impact in the World Cup in which the pitches are expected to assist the slow bowlers.
"I want to come out of the World Cup with appreciable performances and with people saying Saeed bowled well for the team," he said.
His teammate Tanvir said, "Both India and Sri Lanka have strong one-day combinations and both can pose a challenge to any team in the tournament and in the knockout stage," he said.
"I am confident our team can perform well in the tournament and I see India or Sri Lanka as our main threats in the latter stages of the event," Tanvir said.
The all-rounder who has made a comeback to the national team after remaining out of action for nearly a year due to a major knee operation ruled out England as a major contender for the title despite their recent success in the Ashes and after winning the T20 World Cup.
Both Tanvir and Ajmal also felt that the role of the captain and coach was crucial in getting the best performance out of their players.
"The captain and coach can do a lot to lift a player if he is going through a bad patch. A captain must back his player and tell him "I know you can deliver for me," Ajmal said.

Sehwag is my inspiration, says Yusuf Pathan

Speaking to MiD DAY after arriving in Mumbai yesterday, Pathan, who scored 105 in 70 balls and hit eight boundaries and sixes each during his knock at the Centurion, said while Tendulkar has been an inspiration, his daredevil approach at the crease has come from Sehwag. "The obvious answer to that is Sachin Tendulkar, but the daredevil approach has come from Virender Sehwag," said Pathan.
Chasing a revised target of 268 in 46 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis method, India had collapsed to 60 for 5 when Pathan strode out to the middle at the Centurion, before soon slipping to 119 for 8. Pathan then took centre stage as he put the South African attack to the sword during his 100-run partnership with Zaheer Khan for the ninth wicket before he was dismissed. But Pathan's heroics were in vain as India lost the match by 33 runs and the series 2-3.
Pathan, who scored 166 runs at an average of 55.33 and strike rate of 134.95 in the three matches he played in the series, also told MiD DAY that he has always been inspired by Sehwag. "I was always inspired by the way Viru kept backing his own game despite people talking about the so-called shortcomings in his batting," he said.

Akhtar will have limited role in WC: Afridi

After Pakistan's win over New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday, Afridi said that Akhtar was left out of the match as he still needed to work harder on his fitness and form.
"Shoaib might be given a chance to play if we manage to win the series in the next two games," Afridi said.
"He is working hard in the nets and our coach Waqar Younis is spending lot of time with him. It is clear he still needs to work hard on his fitness and form," Afridi added.
The seasoned fast bowler played in the first one-dayer that Pakistan lost and was then left out in the next two matches indicating a reduced role for him in the coming World Cup.
Afridi made his impressions about Shoaib clear after the first one-dayer when he said that he thought the fast bowler had struggled in the match and there might be changes in the remaining matches.
Pakistan preferred to play Umar Gul, Wahab Riaz and Sohail Tanvir in the second and third ODIs.
"Shoaib needs to be match fit and should train. [Coach] Waqar Younis is working hard with him," Afridi maintained.
Shoaib didn't play in the last World Cup because of doping and fitness issues but featured in the 1999 and 2003 World Cups making an impact in some of the matches.
The 35-year-old fast bowler who has taken 242 wickets in 158 one-day internationals has been a regular member of the T20 and ODI teams since last year and is said to be one of the main players who are supporting Afridi for the World Cup captaincy.
Sources within the team said that Afridi and Waqar appear to now think that in the sub-continental conditions in the World Cup, it would be better to bank on the younger pace bowlers instead of Shoaib who would have a limited role to play in what should be his last World Cup.
Afridi also said after the third ODI in which he starred with a cracking 65 from 25 balls that the team management would not follow a rotation policy in the remaining three one-day games in New Zealand.
"Their will be no rotation policy and we will play our best team because we want to win this series and the more matches we win it will mean we will go into the World Cup with our confidence and morale sky high," he added.
The flamboyant all-rounder said that other teams might be opting for a rotation policy to prepare for the World Cup but the Pakistan team management first wanted to be sure about its best first eleven combination for the World Cup.
"If we manage to win the series in New Zealand then we will think about rotating players," he said.

BCCI to ICC: Let’s play in Bengaluru

By Soumitra Bose

Who says politics don’t mix with sports? Here’s a classic case as one of the world’s most sacred cricket grounds gropes in the darkness to wear its prettiest frock for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Even as hectic behind-the-scene political parleys carry on to save the February 27 India versus England World Cup match at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, the Indian Cricket Board has recommended Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium as the alternate venue. Under the circumstances, this seems to be a ploy to keep an angry ICC at bay and win some time for the Garden of Eden.

According to a press release Sunday evening, the BCCI has suggested that the match be held in the Garden City as the ICC is adamant not to let the City of Joy host the crucial encounter, a definite crowd-puller.

Even as BCCI suggests the name of Bengaluru, Kolkata is not giving up hope. It’s now becoming a full-fledged political battle with ICC president and Union minister Sharad Pawar flooded with phone calls from political heavyweights requesting Kolkata be given a February 7 deadline to put its house in order.

The latest to join the “save the Kolkata match mission” is Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, who is taking up cudgels on behalf of the beleaguered Cricket Association of Bengal chief, Jagmohan Dalmiya. It will be worth seeing how Pawar ignores a request made by Mukherjee.

Pulling its weight behind Kolkata is the West Bengal chief minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya, who has reportedly called Pawar and made a “personal” request. With the assembly elections round the corner in West Bengal, analysts see this as a smart move by the CPM government to win the “hearts of the people” and gain some brownie points. The Left Front government is facing stiff competition from its main rival, the Trinamool Congress.

Not to be left behind, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and her team is also playing its cards. Trinamool is a constituent of the central ministry and Banerjee’s soft-corner for Kolkata (read: Eden Gardens) is well known.

With ICC not willing to relent, much depends on Pawar and how much he can extract from his team based at Dubai. The ICC team that has pinned down Eden Gardens and for legitimate reasons, consists of members who have never seen Dalmiya in the eye. Many see this is a chance to teach Dalmiya, a former ICC president, a lesson of a lifetime.

But Dalmiya is a great survivor. He is known to be a man who can make the impossible happen. But this one seems to be getting out of hand. It was Pawar who ousted Dalmiya from BCCI’s corridors of power and now Eden’s fortunes are probably in the hands of this Maratha heavyweight.

Who will be the Man of the Match?

Ahead of World Cup, cricket goods sell like hot cakes

The cricket World Cup is still a few weeks away but teens and children are already making a beeline for sports shops and other places in the city where World Cup merchandise is being sold. Big Bazaar, which has bagged the licence from the Internation Cricket Council (ICC) to be the authorised retailer of special merchandise for the month-long tournament, is seeing a number of fans at its outlets at the Express Avenue mall and in Pondy Bazaar.

Richard Martin, a youngster at one of the malls said, "I am here to buy the Indian team cap and jersey since all my friends have it!"

Big Bazaar is offering World Cup T-shirts, track pants, shorts, sweatshirts, caps, head bands, bed and bath linen products at prices in the range of Rs 199 to Rs 449.

The merchandise is in four ranges the first is for the true cricket lover and has the event logo as the central theme. The second is the graphic range built around cricket-inspired messages and graphics. The third is the Stumpy range, which revolves around the official mascot of the ICC CWC 2011. And the fourth is the true blue fan tee for the Indian team fan; also available are the fan tees for all other 13 countries.

Big Bazaar, which co-created its private label Sach (toothpaste and bathing bars) with cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, is expecting a 10% growth in sales during the World Cup, a top company official said.

The merchandise is also being sold over the Internet as well as at match venues and hotels and airports in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The headgear range is already seeing brisk sales. "Brisk online sales have been reported for both caps and sunhats," said a salesman in Pondy Bazaar.

"We have launched a wide range of merchandise in the past, right from cricket to Bollywood. But expectations from the latest range is much more as cricket is in the heart of every Indian and the tournament is happening in the subcontinent," said an official of the group.

"Through our vast offerings in apparel, home and personal care, we attempt to cement a strong relationship with our customers by enabling them to express their appreciation for cricket by sporting the fan look," said Sanjeev Agarwal, joint CEO of Big Bazaar.

Sri Lanka has switched venues for next week's one-day series against the West Indies to Colombo, an official said on Wednesday, as both teams prepare for next month's World Cup.

The games will be played during the day at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo, Sri Lanka Cricket media manager Brian Thomas said, starting on January 31.

The matches had been scheduled as day-night encounters at the World Cup venues, including the newly-built Hambantota and the renovated Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
